Record results for Greene King
July 6, 2006: Greene King has recorded record profits before tax, up 25 per cent to £119.6 million.
The new financial year has started well and our pubs are also benefiting from the targeted plans that we put in place for the World Cup," said chief executive Rooney Anand in a statement accompanying the results.
"The intrinsic quality of our assets, combined with the passion and talent of our team - along with recent acquisitions - give us confidence that there are exciting opportunities to deliver further growth in the future.
The company reported strong growth in all divisions, with its acquisitions performing well.
What looks likely to be the latest acquisition - Hardys and Hansons - is described as providing an excellent opportunity to further the company's "geographical footprint".
And Greene King says it is "well prepared" for smoking bans.
