Lager named top beer at Liverpool

March 6, 2005: Purists may want to sit down: a lager has been named top beer at a CAMRA festival.

The lager in question is Cains' new premium British lager, victorious at the Liverpool Beer Festival.

Cains owners Ajmail and Sudarghara Dusanj have described it as the company's biggest ever beer festival win.

Sudarghara said: “We’ve proved that lager can be taken seriously and enjoyed by real ale fans. All the way along, from the first time we tasted the lager, we knew we were on to a winner.
