Sharp's to sponsor London Cornish rugby

January 6, 2008: Sharps Brewery is strengthening Cornish sponsorship for one of the fastest rising amateur rugby clubs in the capital, London Cornish Rugby Club.
Sharps, producers of Doom Bar, Eden Ale and Belgian-style beer Chalkys Bite, has signed a two-year deal to sponsor London Cornish, joining other well-known Cornish companies such as the West Cornwall Pasty Company, St Pirran and Nationwide Print.
London Cornish director of rugby, Dickon Moon, said: We are absolutely delighted to have Sharps Brewery on board as they are a great asset to our existing Cornish sponsors.
The team is performing at a rapid pace with its fourth promotion in six seasons, so it is a fantastic time for Sharps Brewery to get involved with the club.
Sharps is renowned for its commitment to sport, in particular rugby, with successful campaigns that include supporting the Cornish All Blacks' promotional drive to National Division One.
James Nicholls, Sharps Brewerys sales and marketing manager, said: Like our beers Cornish rugby thrives in London, so sponsorship of London Cornish made complete sense.
London Cornish also represents everything which is right about Cornish rugby a great sense of community and superb dedication to nurturing players talent.
The London Cornish squad train in Battersea and play on Wimbledon and Putney common.
Every year the club gets a taste of Cornish competition when th ey play the winners of the Cornwall Junior cup. Tours to Guernsey and Poland are planned for later this season.
The brewerys sponsorship will help provide the club with kit, travel expenses and training facilities.
