Updated edition of Good Bottled Beer Guide
August 5, 2006: The sixth edition of Jeff Evans' Good Bottled Beer Guide was launched at the Great British Beer Festival on Wednesday.
The only book that details every bottle-conditioned ale in the UK, it has been revamped for 2006 to include an easy-to-follow rosette system to acknowledge outstanding breweries, and a star system for excellent individual beers.
The guide has truly evolved from its predecessors to reflect that beer is being drunk more commonly with food, there is an increasing interest in local produce, and that consumer demand is increasing for bottle-conditioned products brewed by local breweries," said Mr Evans.
This new edition includes:
l Not only traditional
bitters, but real lagers, stouts, fruit beers, wheat beers and organic
beers.
l Details of every bottle-conditioned beer
in the UK - nearly 800!
l All you need to know about CAMRA's
Real Ale in a Bottle accreditation scheme.
l An extensive listing of international
bottled beers.
l The best shops in which to buy real ale
in a bottle.
l Sound advice on how to store, serve and
taste real ale in a bottle.
A selection of beers which have been awarded stars include:
l Hop Back Entire Stout
l Youngs and Co Special London Ale
l Ridgeway IPA
l Coniston Brewery Bluebird
The Good Bottled Beer Guide is a pocket-sized hardback book, priced at £10.99 and available in all good bookshops, or direct from CAMRA on 01727 867201 (www.camra.org.uk/books)
