Is your golf club steward above par?
June 5, 2008: The English Golf Union (EGU) and Fullers London Pride, the official beer of the EGU, are once again looking for that extra special person who provides exceptional service at their golf club bar.

Following the success of the inaugural search for club steward of the year in 2007, the race is on to find the club steward or a bar person at the 19th hole who provides the most welcoming and enjoyable experience for golfers, be they members or visitors.
Regional winners will be invited to a celebratory lunch that will be held in the autumn when Englands overall London Pride EGU Steward of the Year 2008 will be announced.
Nomination forms will be sent to all EGU clubs, and golfers are also being encouraged to vote online at the EGU website.
David Spencer, brands marketing manager for Fullers, said: We are looking for someone who makes a lasting impression, who will congratulate and celebrate after the best round and motivate after the worst round! Someone who has a great knowledge of their products and goes that extra mile for all their customers.
Last years winner, Cheryl Oakes, from Kettering Golf Club, fought off tight competition to become the first recipient of the award, but her attention to detail and seemingly never ending smile ensured she took the accolade.
Whoever takes this years award will collect a pair of tickets to a days play at a Lord's test match, complete with accommodation for two nights in a Fullers central London hotel. Everyone who nominates a candidate for the award will go into a prize draw to win a case of London Pride and a London Pride rugby shirt.
Paul Keeling, EGU club services manager, said: We are delighted that our partnership with Fullers allows us to be able to recognise and reward those staff who can make a real difference to someones golf day.
"The service you get at the end of a round can leave a lasting impression, and this is a great opportunity to acknowledge the excellent service that we know takes place in clubs across England.
The London Pride EGU Steward of the Year is part of a five-year deal between Fullers and the EGU, which supports amateur golf and provides greater recognition to clubs and their members. For further details and to nominate your favourite club steward go to the English Golf Union website.
