Burning Gold returns for summer

June 5, 2008: Wells Bombardier Burning Gold (4.1% ABV) has been launched as a seasonal cask ale for the summer season.

v

Light and refreshing, it is designed to appeal to ale and lager drinkers alike. English Fuggle and Goldings hops give a zesty, crisp citrus flavour.

Brewer Wells & Young's suggests teaming the beer up with spicy marinated chicken, although it can be enjoyed equally on its own in the summer sunshine of a pub garden.

Chris Lewis, director of marketing at Wells and Young’s, said: "Consumers absolutely love the beer. It was the most successful launch in the premium bottled ale category in the off-trade, so it only makes sense for the beer to be available as a cask in the on-trade.”

The name Burning Gold is inspired by England’s unofficial anthem, Jerusalem, by William Blake.

Wells Bombardier Burning Gold and its sister beer, Satanic Mills, have added more than £1 million to the off-trade category since they were launched last year.

“We predict similar success in the on-trade this summer,” added Mr Lewis.
