Londoners fancy a pint in The Victoria

November 4, 2006: London online pub guide Fancyapint.com has voted Fuller's house The Victoria, on Strathearn Place WC2, London’s best pub.

The awards, held each year on the website’s anniversary, showcase the venues that make drinking in London a pleasure and are supported by Visit London — the official tourist organisation for the capital. The awards are divided into two categories: the reviewers' awards and the visitors' awards.

Helen Wilson, manager of The Victoria with her partner, Chris Cochran, said: “We’re really pleased to have won the reviewers’ overall award. There are many internet guides out there but very few have the support of an official organisation like Visit London.

“We keep a close eye on the reviews on Fancyapint.com and it’s really pleasing to read the notes on The Victoria. We’ve got a great pub and some great customers, and the more the merrier.”

In the visitors’ awards section, another Fuller’s pub, The Counting House on Cornhill EC3, was voted one of London’s best pubs by the 2.5m users of the site.

Fuller’s Inns managing director Simon Emeny said: “Our aim is to be the benchmark in brewing and pub retailing. Simply put, we want to run the best pub in any particular area.

“These awards are a fantastic result for Chris and Helen at The Victoria and Colin George at The Counting House, and it’s great news that Fuller’s has two of Fancyapint's 12 best pubs in London.”
