Floods force Marston's to adjust expectations

October 4, 2007: Marston's has warned that it expects profit before taxation for the financial year to September 29 to be slightly below its original expectations due to the impact of higher interest rates, flood-related repair costs and poor summer weather.

However, earnings before exceptional items are anticipated to be more in line with predicted levels because of share buy-backs and a lower effective rate of tax.

Marston’s Beer Company performed strongly with core brand volumes up 6% overall. Marston’s Pedigree sales grew by nearly 6% but Jennings Cumberland Ale was up by 30%. Ringwood, acquired in July 2007, also
performed well.
