Greene King: 'Ridleys brands will live on'
August 4, 2005: Greene King has responded to criticism of its take-over of Ridley's brewery, voiced by beer writer Roger Protz at the opening of the Great British Beer Festival this week.
Mr Protz called for festival-goers to go to the Greene King stand and tell them to keep Ridleys open.
Greene King, though, stands by its statement saying that no-one else wanted to run Ridleys and that, far from running down the brewery's products, it would b continuing to brew four of them - Old Bob (5.1%), Prospect (4.2%), Rumpus (4.5%) and Tolly Original (3.8%). IPA will cease, presumably because there is a very smilar Greene King brand.
