New brewery to launch in South Devon
March 4, 2007: A successful brewer and businessman are teaming up to launch a new brewery in South Devon.
Will Freeland, who has gained an excellent reputation as head brewer at Skinner's, in Truro, Cornwall, is joining Mark Salmon in the venture. Mark has more than 10 years experience as managing director of SSG, a successful training and consultancy company in Plymouth.
Bays Brewery will be based at Aspen Way, Paignton, with
the first brew planned for May. Construction work begins this month with
a 20 barrel plant able, initially, to produce more than 400 casks
a week installed in the 4,000 sq ft unit.
Mark and Will will also be joined by Peter Salmon. Peter recently achieved
a masters degree in marketing and management from Loughborough University
and is leaving his current job in London to join the team as sales and
marketing manager, a role, says Mark, that will be fundamental to the
future success of the brewery.
