Fuller's puts emphasis on excellence

l The bar area in Fuller's new Centre of Excellence
October 3, 2008: Fuller's has opened a new training centre, to be known as the Fullers Centre of Excellence.
Based on a traditional pub theme, the centre, which boasts a full working cellar and bar, plus classroom and conference facilities, will host the many courses Fullers provides for licensees and staff from its own pubs, and those from free trade customers and other pub groups.
The Centre of Excellence is already dedicated to a full programme of BII accredited training for managed and tenanted pubs, which includes cask and keg beer management, health and safety, product knowledge and presentation.
The opening of the centre means that the brewerys Hock Cellar, the previous home of the training courses, will now be freed up to accommodate more guests on Fullers increasingly popular brewery tours.
Technical services manager, Emma Watts, said: I am really proud of the new training centre and am excited by the opportunities it will give us to host even more courses as they are always in demand. We expect to train over 1,000 people over the course of the next year."
John Roberts, managing director of The Fullers Beer Company, added: Beer quality is of paramount importance to Fullers, as discerning beer drinkers will often hunt out pubs with a reputation for serving a good pint.
Whatever a customer orders, they expect it in perfect condition, and we aim to help publicans provide exactly that, every time.
Good cellar craft is a critical skill for any bar person and I am delighted that the new centre will allow us to train even more people in the art of serving a good pint.
