You don't have to be a grandad to work here ...

l Skinner's magnificent seven grandads: left to right, Terry Wilson, technical services manager, Pete Keal, driver, Bob Noble, brewery tour guide, Steve Skinner, managing director, Andy Hawken, sales manager, Albert Hunter, tour guide and visitor centre assistant, and Don Brown

March 3, 2008: They’re a grand lot at Skinner's Brewery in Cornwall — or at least that’s the claim for seven of the team, who have all achieved the advanced status of grandfather.

A total of 26 grandchildren descend from these “magnificent seven”, pictured above, the most recent entry into the ranks being brewery boss Steve Skinner.

Steve’s son Ben, world number two longboard surfing champion, is now the proud father of a baby boy, not yet named, who, within days of coming into the world, was wearing a top with the words 'My dad’s a pro surfer'.

As Steve said: “Talk about starting ‘em young — he’s got no chance of avoiding the world of surfing now!”

The new arrival is the first son of Ben and his partner Michelle, who live in Perranporth. He is brother to Michelle’s ten-year-old daughter Lucy and the first grandchild for Steve and his wife Sarah.
