Comrade Bill has the bottle for SIBA victory
March 3, 2007: Comrade Bill Bartram's Egalitarian Anti Imperialist Soviet Stout has scooped top prize in the bottled beer section of the annual beer competition run by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA).
The 6.9% ABV beer, produced at Marc Bartram's brewery in Bury St Edmunds, fought off particularly tough competition to take the title, announced at SIBA's annual conference in Leeds.
The other shortlisted bottled beers were: Harviestoun
Bitter and Twisted (4.2%), Hop
Back Entire Stout (4.5%), Okell's
Dr Okell's IPA (4.5%), Thornbridge
Hall Jaipur IPA (5.9%), Triple
FFF Gilbert White (6.0%) and Ossett
Treacle Stout (5.0%).
