This is a rich, nut-brown beer with a soft, sweet palate and hints of fruit and spices. Hopped with Bramling Cross, First Gold and Fuggles, it has been brewed using dried fruits, ginger and cinnamon to enhance the mouth feel and add warming spice notes.
Casks of Clootie Dumpling, which is being brewed at the Orkney Brewery, will be available to licensed premises between mid-November and mid-January.
Norman Sinclair, managing director of Sinclair Breweries LTD operator of the Orkney Brewery and Kinlochleven's Atlas Brewery said: "We've done seasonal and speciality ales in the past, but this year we really wanted to produce something a little different and distinctive for the festive period.
"With Clootie Dumpling we've tried to capture and blend some of the wonderful flavours associated with Christmas. It's been a complex task, but we're confident we've come up with an ale that will help everyone get in the festive spirit.
"It'll perfectly compliment all the usual Christmas fare, but in particular we would suggest trying it with nuts, stronger flavoured cheeses and, of course, clootie dumpling."
