Cains links up with the Tate Gallery
November 2, 2006: Cains Brewery has signed a three-year partnership to become the official Tate08 brewer of Tate Liverpool. As part of this unique partnership Cains beer will be stocked at Tates Liverpool and London-based Britain and Modern galleries.
The move is part of Cains arts-related sponsorship programme linked to the brewerys £1 million tie-up with Liverpools European Capital of Culture status.
Together, the Tate galleries attract almost 6 million visitors a year and the fifth gallery, Tate Online pulls in more than 7 million unique virtual visitors per year.
Cains joint managing director, Sudarghara Dusanj, said: As a craft brewery Cains focuses strongly on the art of brewing and Tate understands that. The talent, quality ingredients and dedication that goes into brewing any of our beers means that they are appreciated by people who like to understand exactly what they are drinking.
Tate is a major British cultural brand and needs a range of British beers to complement that image. No other brewery is able to offer the range that Cains can, including the first premium British lager stored for three months to give a fuller flavour.
Awareness of the quality beers that we are producing is spreading throughout the UK as distribution of our brands increases. Working in partnership with such an iconic name as Tate can only help in our quest to become Britains favourite brewer.
Andrea Nixon, executive director of Tate Liverpool, commented: As Liverpool celebrates its status as European Capital of Culture in 2008 it is now more important than ever that the city takes its name out to a broader audience. Tate Liverpool is doing just that, with a bold and inventive exhibition and events programme.
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Cains Brewery, a new Tate08 partner, to stock their Liverpool beer in Tate galleries up and down the country. Art lovers in Liverpool and London can now appreciate a true taste of Liverpool.
