Skinner's bottles boost charity coffers

November 2, 2006: Limited edition bottled beers produced by Skinners Brewery, in Cornwall, have raised nearly £2,000 for three charities so far this year.

When stocks run out — expected to be by late spring 2007 —£5,000 will have been raised for the Fishermen’s Mission, the Children’s Hospice South West and Breaks4kids.

Skinners has linked up with the Fishermen’s Mission to help celebrate the charity’s 125 years of supporting fishermen and their families in times of hardship. The special Starry Gazey ale bottles are currently on sale all over the UK, with the label highlighting the anniversary.

SkinnersR17; Butterfly amber ale is supporting the Children’s Hospice, which supports more than 200 children and their families and is currently building a second hospice near Bristol to augment the Barnstaple unit.

Profits from the sale of the Happy Hostler wheat beer are going to Breaks4kids, which helps financially disadvantaged children stay at youth hostels. Last year the Youth Hostels Association helped over 4,000 children in this way.
