St Austell to buy West Country Punch pubs
July 2, 2009: St Austell Brewery has agreed to purchase the freeholds of four South West pubs from Punch Taverns. These will increase the brewery's pub estate to 173.
The pubs are: the Borough Arms, Dunmere, Bodmin; the Holly Tree Inn, Withycombe Village Road, Exmouth; the Paris Hotel, The Cove, Coverack; and the Top House, Landewednack, The Lizard.
St Austell Brewery estate director, Adam Luck, said: We are delighted to have purchased these sites. All are high quality businesses and their locations fit extremely well with our current portfolio of pubs and hotels.
"We are very proud of our pub business and look forward to welcoming the existing tenants and their teams to the St Austell Brewery estate.

Named regional brewer of the year at The Publican awards in March, St Austell has seen a 25% year-on-year increase in sales of its ales this year. It has also made a £700,000 investment to build a new in-house bottling line, and opened the doors of a new Cornwall Distribution Centre near Newquay to serve as a regional hub for all its 2,000 customers in Cornwall.
