October 1, 2006: Batemans’ XXXB has been selected to be used in the sauce of Freshcook’s Beef Pie, supplied exclusively to Marks and Spencer's Cook! range. The line will be carried in stores across the UK and Ireland from this month.

Andy Hearns, commercial manager for Freshcook Ltd, said: “We wanted to use a specialist regional beer and looked far and wide for an ale that would complement the dish perfectly.

"Using Batemans XXXB underlines our commitment to the use of superb ingredients and the fact that today’s consumers value real food that is free-from needless additives and appreciate food prepared using traditional methods.”

Jaclyn Bateman, marketing director of Batemans, added: "We are really pleased to have been selected over every other beer in the country. Our XXXB works really well, giving the pie a real depth of flavour - the result, a pie which any of our licensees would be proud to produce.”
