Rousing welcome for The Rousler

July 1, 2006: Bromsgrove’s newest pub, The Rousler, opened its doors this week thanks to the help of six local residents who suggested the pub’s unique name via a local newspaper competition in the local paper.

The Rousler was suggested after Bromsgrove’s famous terracotta devil which resides in the local library. Legend has it that the devil flew into Bromsgrove one foggy frosty night in 1894 and froze before it met its destination; the ornate statue of the Rousler has kept the story alive ever since.

The pub represents a £750,000 refurbishment of the former Halfords store on the High Street by pub operator The Barracuda Group and operates as a high quality Smith & Jones brand, creating around 25 full- and part-time jobs.
