Super Bock arrives in London
June 1, 2008: Leading Portuguese draught beer Super Bock is to be made available in London for the first time this summer.
The 5.6% ABV lager will be exclusively found at Tom and Ed Martin's A Grelha at The Gun, their Portuguese bar and restaurant in Docklands, as well as on the bar at their Clerkenwell gastropub, The Well.
The deal is the result of Tom and Ed's ongoing relationship with the multi-million pound brand, which began with the opening of The Well eight years ago.
It also reflects their passion for Portuguese food and drink, which grew from childhood holidays spent on The Algarve.
Launched in 1927, Super Bock is Portugal's leading beer, drunk by seven out of 10 people in the country and available in 95% of drinking establishments. It is the only beer brand to have won 28 Selection Mondiale de la Qualite gold medals.
The beer's smooth, clean, fresh taste makes it good for drinking on its own, while socialising, or particularly with authentic, barbecued, southern Portuguese syle food.
Ed Martin said: "We are delighted to be the first and only UK provider of draught Super Bock.
"After many visits to Portugal, and particularly the brewery in Oporto, we truly believe it is a fantastic product and are positive that our customers will agree."
