Bodmin festival attracts 450 drinkers

February 26, 2008: Around 450 happy beer lovers came along to Bodmin’s Public Rooms on the weekend to sample some 40 real ales and ciders.

It was the first time in four years that the Cornish branch of the Campaign for Real Ale had held a beer festival in Bodmin, and CAMRA Kernow, as the group is known, was delighted at its success.

Altogether, about 2,000 pints were consumed on Friday evening and all day Saturday, with entertainment provided from various acts, including the Trigg Morris Men, No Strings and Jim Tilley.

Festival organiser Gerry Wills said: “The people of Bodmin and those who travelled from elsewhere showed tremendous support, and we thank them for a most successful festival.

“We also gained 12 new CAMRA members, including nine from the town itself."

Mr Wills added that if enough local people wanted CAMRA to return to Bodmin and host another beer festival, the organisation would be delighted to come back.
