July 21 to 27: A celebration of Belgian Beer in two London Dove Pubs. They will be hosting special events in the two venue as well as offering visitors a chance to win a two-night stay in Bruges with Eurostar and a chance to visit the De Halvemaan brewery for a tour and lunch. Other competitions offer a trip to Leuven and a visit to the Stella Artois brewery. Events include beer tastings with Phil Lowery, a Belgian beer pub quiz, beer and cheese tastings and a chance to win crates of beer and brewery merchandise. Throughout the week the Dovetail in Clerkenwell and the Dove Free House in Broadway Market Hackney will offer a special menu featuring Belgian beer recipes. For information visit www.dovepubs.com

July 24 to 27: Summer beer festival, with live music, at the Fox and Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk. For more details, see the pub's website.

July 26: Owl Show at the Barley Mow, Epsom. Come along and meet a selection of these birds of prey. Also entertainment and hog roast — a pig fed on spent London Pride yeast from Fuller's Brewery. More details: 01372 721044.

August 15 to 17: The third annual Buckland Beer Festival at the Buckland Showground, the Bell Inn, Buckland, Buckland Dinham, near Frome, Somerset BA11 2QT. More than 100 beers, ciders, wines and lagers. Hot and cold food, stalls and displays, limited camping and entertainment including The Wurzels.
