February 25 to 28: Beer festival at the Blue Boar Hotel, Silver Street, Maldon, Essex CM9 4QE. Staged in association with Farmer's Ales, the event will feature beers from Essex. More information on 01621 855888 or click www.blueboarmaldon.co.uk

February 26 to March 7: Festival celebrating Devon breweries at JD Wetherspoon's the Powder Monkey, Exmouth. Beers, from nine breweries, and priced at £1.79 a pint, will include exclusive brews from Bays, Teignworthy and Exeter breweries.

March 2: The launch of the LocAle scheme by the Surrey Hampshire Borders branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, 7pm, Wetherspoon's, Woking. The pub is holding a week-long festival of LocAle ales, from March 1, featuring about 25 beers from 12 breweries.

March 12: Beer and food evening at the Chineham Arms, Ajax Close, Chineham, Basingstoke RG24 8XA, 7.30pm. Hosted by Fuller's head brewer John Keeling. Five courses, with beer to complement the food — £25. 20% discount for CAMRA members. Book on 01256 356404.

March 18 to 21: Kelham Island and the Fat Cat Spring Beer Festival, in the car park of the Fat Cat, 23 Alma Street, Sheffield. Between 80 and 120 spring ales, as well as ciders, perries, lagers and wines. Hot and cold food, plus live entertainment. Sessions: Thursday to Saturday, noon to 11pm; Sunday, noon to 7pm.

March 20: Wales v Italy at The Vulcan, 10 Adam Street, Adamsdown, Cardiff CF24 2FH. The evening kicks off at 5pm.

March 22: Belgian beer tasting at the Talbot Taphouse, 1 Butterley Hill, Ripley, Derbyshire. Duvel Moortgat will be presenting 10 beers from its three breweries. More details and tickets from Andy at the pub on 01773 742626.
