Ferret is fastest-growing bottled ale

l Celebrating the success of Fursty Ferret. Am I the only person to have received this PR picture and wondered whether it is a tribute to an extraordinarily patient photographer or a skilled taxidermist?

May 5, 2008: Just in time to celebrate National Ferret Day today, market research* has revealed that Hall & Woodhouse’s Fursty Ferret is now the fastest growing major bottled ale brand in UK supermarkets, with a 65% year-on-year increase in volume.

This coincides with the launch of a redesigned bottle label for Fursty Ferret, which now carries the Badger logo; bringing it into the successful family of Badger Ales family for the first time.

A 4.4% ABV tawny amber ale with a sweet nutty palate and a hoppy aroma with hints of Seville oranges, Fursty Ferret was named in honour of the inquisitive local ferrets that frequented the back door of the Gribble Inn on a mission to sample the pub’s own reputed brew.

The Badger brand has doubled by volume since 2000, and Hall & Woodhouse now has four of the top 15 brands in supermarkets and nearly 10% national market share.
