1 million square feet of Barracuda

March 18, 2006: The Barracuda Group has added the millionth square foot of property to its 180-strong portfolio with the opening The Bidding, in Llanelli, South Wales. The Bidding is a classic Smith & Jones pub in the centre of town.

Chief executive, Mark McQuater, said: “Adding our millionth square foot to the Barracuda property portfolio is a significant achievement for the company, especially considering we’ve only been operating since 2000.

"Last year’s re-financing by Charterhouse Capital Partners has really accelerated our acquisition programme and we are now working towards opening a further 30 pubs throughout 2006.”
