Greene King pubs director transfers to Barracuda
February 1, 2006: Graham Jones, former operations director within Greene King's managed pubs division, has joined the Barracuda pubco as operations director.
He replaces one of Barracudas founder directors, Kieran Phelan, who, after 25 years in the industry, is retiring from the business.
Graham says: For me, this industry is all about customer-focused business and that is where Barracuda is particularly strong.
He will oversee the operation of Barracudas 180 pubs, with responsibility for a team of 25.
He was previously with Whitbread for many years and subsequently ran a number of units within the Laurel Pub Company (the former Whitbread pub division) where he gained experience of the private equity environment. When a significant element of Laurel was sold to Greene King in 2003, he transferred over to them.
Mark McQuater, chief executive of Barracuda, said: Graham Jones brings with him an outstanding reputation in the pub industry."
