Former Phoenix head brewer Richard Bazen set up Bazens' Brewery in 2002 - he runs the business with his wife, Jude. Since then the accolades have rolled in: Black Pig won a bronze medal in the mild category of Champion Beer of Britain in 2003; Flatbac, bronze at the Brewing Industry International Awards, May 2004; and 20 Not Out was overall bitter of festival at Stockport in June 2004.
