YOUNG'S
Bitter (3.7%): For a lowish alcohol content,
this packs a good taste punch. Hops and fruit dominate in the straw-coloured
brew which, these days, can be enjoyed at home in a generous 660ml bottle.
(DN)
Champion Live Golden Beer (5%): Styrian hops, which I'm used
to experiencing with Skinner's beers down here in Cornwall, give this
bottle-conditioned beer its bite. A refreshing, citrussy, fruity beer
with a bitter tang and a satisfying, subtle malt balance. (DN: 26-03-06)
Christmas Pudding Ale (5.5%): Does what it say on the bottle pretty
much, but there is an over-riding taste of what I eventually deduced was
almond. (DN)
Double Chocolate Stout (5.2%), Golden Zest
(4.7%), John Young's Christmas Ale (4.3%, Christmas 2005), Kew Brew (5%),
Light Ale (3.2%), Old Nick (7.2%), Ram Rod (5%), St George's Ale (4.3%)
Special (4.5%): Robust, with good malt but citrussy notes too.
Dry finish. (DN)
Special London Ale (6.4%): A light, fruity, hoppy beer that
belies its serious strength. Plenty of orange flavour balanced by some
subtle malt. Ridiculously drinkable. (20-02-08)
Waggledance (5%), Winter Warmer (5%)
