WADWORTH
6X (4.3%): A copper coloured
beer with a malty, fruity nose, and hop in the backgroun. There is a satisfying
malty finish.
Bishop's Tipple (5.5%): A smooth, rich bitterness,
underpinned by a spicy, citrus finish, from Saaz and Styrian Golding hops.
The malt is pale Optic giving a biscuity flavour. A
recreated classic, formerly brewed by the now defunct Gibbs Mew, of Salisbury.
George and the Dragon (4.5%): A pale ale produced
under the Manns brand to a receipe of the now defunct brewery, with a
firey amber hue and crisp, tangy taste. The
hops are WGV.
Henry's IPA (3.6%): Gentle malt and light hoppiness
create this popular session bitter. The bitter aftertaste becomes biscuity.
Horizon (4%): A pale golden beer introduced in
2007 something of a departure in terms of style for Wadworth. Light
and easy drinking with a citrus hop aroma and crisp, tangy finish, delivered
through Cascade, Fuggles and Styrian Goldings hops.

Summersault (4%, Summer), Usher's Best Bitter (3.8%)

Bakehouse Bitter (3.8%), Bun in the Oven (3.8%), Fired Up (4.1%), Flying Top (4.4%), Old Gridlap (5%), Rock 'n' Roll (4.2%), Two Llocks (4%), Walsh's Warmer (5%)

Bitter (3.6%), Bow Sprit (3.6%), Summer Ale (4.2%), Stout (5%), Winter Ale (6.5%)

Ambush (4.8%), Best Bitter (3.8%), Cheshire Cat (4%), Eastgate Ale (4.2%), Oast House Gold (5%), Old Dog Premium Bitter (4.5%)
WELLS & YOUNGS
Bombardier (4.3%): A rich, copper coloured bitter
with a smooth, light fruity undertone, leading to robust finish. Made
with Challenger and Goldings hops.
Courage Best Bitter: A standard session beer with good balance and
a bitter aftertaste. The hops are Target.
Directors (4.8%): A full-bodied best bitter with sweet, malty notes
balanced by a dry Target hop aroma and flavour. Now brewed by Wells and
Young's.
Wells Eagle IPA (3.6%): A very drinkanle session beer with a dry-bitter
finish, described by Roger Protz as having a "complex finish of bitter
hops, nuts and citrus fruits".
Young's Bitter (3.7%): A refreshing session bitter with a fresh,
fruity aroma, light, dry palate and a long bitter finish.
Young's Champion Live Golden Beer (5%): Styrian hops, which I'm
used to experiencing with Skinner's beers down here in Cornwall, give
this bottle-conditioned beer its bite. A refreshing, citrussy, fruity
beer with a bitter tang and a satisfying, subtle malt balance. (DN:

Young's Christmas Pudding Ale (5.5%): Does what it say on the bottle
pretty much, but there is an over-riding taste of what I eventually deduced
was almond. (DN)
Young's Double Chocolate Stout (5.2%), Young's
Golden Zest (4.7%), John Young's Christmas Ale (4.3%), Young's Kew Brew
(5%), Young's Light Ale (3.2%), Young's Old Nick (7.2%), Young's Ram Rod
(5%), Young's St George's Ale (4.3%)
Young's Special (4.5%): Robust, with good malt but citrussy notes
too. Dry finish. (DN)
Young's Special London Ale (6.4%): A light, fruity, hoppy beer
that belies its serious strength. Plenty of orange flavour balanced by
some subtle malt. Ridiculously drinkable. (20-02-08)

Old Cocky (4.3%): A complex golden beer with a fruity aroma and initial fruitness on the palate that bitters out. Hops are Northdown and WGV.

Wayland Smithy (4.4%): A red beer with an initial hoppiness, from
Bramling Cross and Cascade varieties, and a dry, biscuity taste leading

WICKWAR
Autumnale (4.6%)
BOB (4%): A light brown bitter with nice malt flavours
balanced by Challenger and Fuggle hop bitterness which develops in the
aftertaste. Oh, and BOB stands for Brand Oak Bitter, apparently.
Christmas Cracker (4.2%), Coopers (3.5%), Cotswold Way (4.2%), IKB (4.5%),
Mr Perrett's Traditional Stout (5.9%)
Premium Spring Ale (3.8%): An amber gold beer with
fruit flavour and a slightly sweet finish, thanks to Fuggles, Challenger
and Cascade hops.

Druid's Fluid (5%): Pale, crystal and chocolate

a long list of ingredients for a complex, strong bitter.
One for the Toad (4%): A light, golden beer with good hoppy flavour.

Maris Otter, Wheat and Cara malts, together with Goldings and Styrian
hops, to produce a beer with a soft, fruity flavour and a hint of spice.

Woild Moild (4.8%)
A rich and fruity traditional Norfolk mild. Good balance of malt with
liquorice bitterness and lots of chocolate malt. Dark ruby-red mild with

Admiral's Reserve (5%), Headcracker (7%), Mardler's

Nelson's Revenge (4.5%): Wonderful hop aroma. Very
bitter hop taste rounded off with Maris Otter barley, grown and malted
in Norfolk. The hops definitely win the balance contest. A gingerish taste

Norfolk Nog (4.6%): A smooth and rich award-winning old ale, with
hints of chocolate, treacle and liquorish.

WOODLANDS
Gold Brew (5%), Lager Beer (4.1%), Midnight Stout (4.4%), Old Willow (4.1%), Woodlands Bitter (4.4%), Woodlands IPA (4.3%)
WYCHWOOD
BeeWyched: A golden, amber-coloured
ale, combining powerful honey aromas, a crisp blend of citrus grapefruit
flavours from the hops, and a subtle honey background. (Wychwood 27-02-07)
Black Wych (5%), Circle Master (4.7%)
Dirty Tackle (4%): A full-bodied, malty beer with
a clean citrus aroma, featuring Crystal and Wheat malts with Challenger
and Northdown hops. (25-01-08)
Dog's Bollocks (5.2%), England's Ale (4%), Festive Spirits (4.8%), Fiddlers
Elbow (4.5%), Firecrest (6%), Goliath (4.2%)
Hobgoblin (4.5%): A warming red-to-dark ale for
a stormy, autumnal night. Crystal malt helps gorgeous choclatiness come
to the fore. The ABV was dropped from 5.2% to 4.5% in spring 2008
with the aim of making the beer more "sessionable". (DN)
Mad Hatter (4.2%): Cara and crystal malts give
a red colour and biscuity flavour, while Fuggles, Goldings and Northdown
give an intense hoppiness. A spring 2008 seasonal brew.
Osprey (6.5%), Shires Bitter (3.7%)
Wychcraft (4.5%): A very pale blonde beer with
a citrus aroma and subtle maltiness balanced by Fuggles, Styrian Goldings
and Target hops.
WYE VALLEY
Dorothy Goodbody's Wholesome Stout (4.6%): Maris Otter pale, Crystal and chocolate malt, with roasted and flaked barley, balanced by a single hope, Northdown, to create a complex and satisfying stout. In its bottle conditioned form it was a silver medal winner in the 2007 Champion Beer of Britain contest.
