Cynful (3.7%): In bottle form this is a Tesco Beer Challenge winner for 2004. Chocolate malt and Kent hops make for a traditional mild that starts off with a big, foamy head. Delicious. (DN)

RHYMNEY
Bevan's Bitter (4.2%), Centenary Ale (3.9%)
Export (5%): A well-rounded, robust beer, not too sweet, with a nutty
flavour from the hops. A deep copper colour. It packs a punch, this one
to can tell its 5%!
Rhymney Bitter (4.5%)
RIDGEWAY
Oxfordshire Blue (5%): Head of tight white foam. Golden colour. Satsumas taste levelled out by a pale malt infusion, but leaving a bitter, citrus fruity finish. Tesco's Beer Awards winner for 2006, available exclusively in that store in bottle. (DN)
RIDLEY'S
Tolly Cobbold Bitter (3.8%): A satisfying, ruby
red, malty session bitter. (DN)
Witch Finder (4.3%): Black with ruby coming through when it's
held up to the light, this is a dark beer that doesn't deliver cloying
sweetness but has pleasing bitter chocolate taste. My Halloween tipple
of 2004. (DN)
RINGWOOD
Best Bitter (3.8%): Hop aroma leads to a malty
palate with a dry, tabgy fruit finish. A very satisfying, easy drinking
session bitter.
Forty-niner (4.9%): Fruit and hops provide good balance in a brew
which does not taste as strong as it is. Very satisfying indeed. Hops
are Challenger, Goldings and Progress. (DN)
Old Thumper (5.6%): One of my favourite strong bitters. A lovely
darkish, malty (but not too sweet) pint, with good fruit notes (strawberry?)
that deserves a bit of reverence! (DN)

very drinkable with very well balanced malt notes. (DN)
78 (4.2%): Brewed in 2008 to celebrate the 30th anniversary

not overly so; plenty of bitterness there, coffee and licorice flavours
compete on palate. Very potent no wonder it's sold only in a (very
attractive) 330ml bottle. (DN)
