4BEERS: O

OAKHAM

5 Leaves Left (4.5%), Bishop's Farewell (4.6%), Black Hole Porter (5.5%), Cold Turkey (6.3%), Harlequin (4.9%), Helter Skelter (5%),
JHB (3.8%): Jeffrey Hudson Bitter — one of my favourites (and many other people's) of 2004. A low-alcohol straw-coloured ale that is absolutely bursting with hop flavour; satisfying dry finish. There is some feeling, however, that the quality hasn't been quite as a good since a recent change of brewer. (DN: 2008)
JHB Extra (4.2%), Kaleidoscope (4.7%), Mompessons Gold (5%), Old Tosspot (5.2%), Tsunami (4%)
White Dwarf (4.3%):
A light and refreshing wheat beer, clear, with a blend of Cascade, Challenger and Pioneer hops leading to a long bitter finish.

OAKLEAF

Blake's Gosport Bitter (5.2%), Blake's Heaven (7%), Green Gold (September and October, 4.3%), Heart of Oak (4.5%), Hole Hearted (4.7%), I Can't Believe it's not Bitter (4.9%), India Pale Ale (5%), Maypole Mild (3.8%), Nuptu' Ale (4.2%), Oakleaf Bitter (3.8%), Piston Porter (October and November, 4.6%), Reindeer's Delight (Christmas, 4.5%), Stokers Stout (January and February, 5%)

O'HANLON'S

Blakeley's (4.2%), Dry Stout (4.2%), Firefly (3.7%)
Goldblade (4%):
An award winning wheat beer with a gentle citric hop aroma and subtle malt and grain flavours, with a refreshing, slightly dry finish. Hops used are Cascade, Challenger and First Gold.
Myrica (4.2%), Organic Rye Beer (5%)
Port Stout (4.8%):
If ever a beer did what it proverbially says on the tin, this is it. Stout with a warming, yet not overpowering shot of Ferreira port. Lovely. (DN)
Red Ale (4.5%)
Royal Oak (5%):
Originally brewed by Eldridge Pope, this beer has been lovingly recreated by O Hanlon's. A classic, strong best bitter, an initial sweetness gives way to a good bitter finish. (DN)
Wheat Beer (4%), Yellowhammer (4.5%)

OKELLS

Autumn Dawn (4.2%), Bitter (3.7%)
Dr Okell's Eastern Spice (4.5%):
Light in colour with a spicy aftertaste thanks to infusions of spices, ginger, coriander and chillies. There's a cornucopia of hops, too — Cascade, First Gold, Fuggles, Hallertau, Saaz and Styrian Goldings. A spring 2008 special.
Dr Okell's IPA (4.5%), Maclir (4.4%), Mild (3.4%), St Nick (4.5%), Spring Ram (4.2%), Summer Storm (4.2%)

OLD LUXTERS

Gold Ale (5%): A hoppy, yet smooth-drinking golden brew, probably thanks to the pale malt used in the recipe. Just a hint of sweetness. (DN)

ORGANIC

Charlie's Pride (5.3%): A full flavoured, organic, cask-conditioned lager. A silver award winner at the SIBA Maltings festival in 2008.
Halzephron (3.6%):
A nice, light, easy drinking session bitter with a citrussy hop; not to everyone's liking, but suits me. This was originally brewed as the house beer for the Halzephron Inn, at Gunwalloe, on the Lizard. (DN)
Lizard Point (4%): A golden bitter with hints of fruit and a dry malt finish.
Serpentine (4.5%): Dark and chocolately, plenty of malt taste, but the sweetness is countered is balanced beautifully by good hops. (DN)
Winter Wonderland (5%): Well-balanced ruby ale with a hint Christmassy fruits and spices. A hint of smokiness. Probably my favourite so far of the Organic portfolio. (DN)

ORKNEY

Dark Island (4.6%): A dark classic, award-winning malty brew balanced by a slight fruitniness and hopped with Goldings and Omega varieties. The Campaign for Real Ale's champion winter beer of Scotland 2008.
Northern Light (4%): A light and hoppy paleale, combining juicy malt with citrus and apricoy flavours from Hersbrücker, Liberty and Saaz hops.
