GALES

Best (3.9%), Butser Bitter (3.4%)
Festival Mild (4.8%): A premium strength dark mild originally produced in the early 1990s when the North Hants and Surrey division of CAMRA asked Gales brewery to develop a mild ale for its beer festival. Such was the success of the brew that small quantities became available commercially and Gales Festival Mild went on to win numerous CAMRA beer awards. Fuller's acquired Gales in 2005 and has since maintained Gales Festival Mild as a staple of its seasonal beer portfolio. (14-04-10)
Christmas Ale (8.5%), GB Export Strength (4.5%)
HSB (4.8%): A well-balanced best bitter with Christmas-cake-like fruit taste coming through.
Prize Old Ale (9%), Robin's Revenge (4%), Summer Hog (3.8%), Swing Low (4.1%), Trafalgar Ale (4.2%), Trafalgar Ale bottle conditioned (10%)Winter Brew (4.2%)


GARGOYLES

Humbug (5%): A dark brown brew with a liquorice aroma leading to a burnt toast taste and a medicinal finish.


GARTON

Chocolate Frog (8%), Goodnight Vienna (8%), Liquid Lobotomy Stout (8%), Old Buffer (4.5%), Stunned Mullet (5%), Woldsman Bitter (4.5%)


GEORGE WRIGHT

Blue Moon (4.9%), Cheeky Pheasant (4.7%), Drunken Duck (3.9%), IPA (4.5%), Kings Shillin' (4.5%), Longboat (3.9%), Midday Sun (4.2%), Pipe Dream (4.3%), Winter Sun (4.2%), Wounded Goose (3.9%)


GIDLEY'S

Meadow (4.5%): A golden, hoppy brew.
Spinney (4.1%):
A malty red ale.


GODDARDS

Duck's Folly (5.2%): Dark golden with a fresh grassy hop, sweetish but more bitter on the finish. There's a taste of marmalade and grapefruit in there. (DN)

Goddards Special Bitter (4%): Nicely balanced, very drinkable session bitter, offering bisuity malt countered by peppery hop and a hint of lemon on the finish. Lots of fresh peppery hop on the aroma. (DN)


GOFFS

Twelfth Knight (4.5%): Mid-brown with a sweet, malty taste and smooth finish.


GRAFTON

Dark Lady (4%): Dark brown with a roast coffee aroma and taste.


GRAINSTORE

Rutland Panther (3.4%): An award winning dark mild, well balanced, with chocolate and fruit flavours complementing a roasted, bitter finish. Hops used are Fuggles and Northdown.
Ten Fifty (5.5%):
A traditional strong bitter with good malt balanced by nutty, spicy hoppiness. (DN: 23-06-07) Note: ABV has since been dropped to 5%. (31-05-09)
Triple B (4.2%): A smooth, well balanaced bitter, with a clean, hoppy aftertaste from Bramling Cross, Fuggles and Northdown varieties. (25-03-10)


GRAND UNION

Honey Porter (4.9%): Doesn't sound like a great idea on paper, but the taste is subtle and sublime — ridiculously drinkable. Probably my favourite of the 2005 St Ives Beer Festival. (DN)


GREAT OAKLEY

4REGULAR BEERS
Delapre Dark (4.6%):
A black old ale, dark mahogany in colour, with a light smokey, chocolate, roasted aroma. The taste is chocolate and spicy with burnt notes. (brewery notes)
Gobble (4.5%): A straw coloured hoppy brew, with lots of hop flavour on the finish. (Brewery notes)
Harpers (4.3%): A traditional mid-brown bitter with a malty taste and hints of chocolate and citrus in the finish. (Brewery notes)
Marching In (4.1%): Originally brewed to celebrate the promotion of Northampton Saints RFC to rugby's Premiership in 2008, and now retained as a regular brew due to its popularity. A golden beer with a blend of English and New Zealand hops for a refreshing taste. (Brewery notes)
Tail Shaker (5%): A complex, full-bodied golden ale with great depth of flavour and a floral hop finish. (Brewery notes)
Wagtail (3.9%): A straw coloured beer with bitterness derived from New Zealand hops. Very drinkable and refreshing. (Brewery notes)
Welland Valley Mild (3.6%): A dark and flavoursome traditional mild with a slight roast taste. (Brewery notes)
Wot's Occurring (3.9%): A mid-golden session bitter with a bitter-sweet mouthfeel and a subtle hop finish. (Brewery notes)

4SPECIALS
Abbey Stout (5%):
A dark rich stout brewed with generous amounts of roast barley and German hops. (Brewery notes)
Easter Bunny (3.8%):
A straw coloured ale with two varieties of American and one variety of New Zealand hop, giving a refreshing taste. (Brewery notes)
Fly the Flag (4.1%):
A St George's Day special, copper coloured and generously hopped with Northdown, Challenger and Fuggles varieties. (Brewery notes)
Monkey (4.9%):
Produced to mark Great Oakley's 500th brew, a ruby, rich, complex ale which has a subtle combination of all the malts and hops used in the brewery's regular ales. (Brewery notes)
Responsibly (3.4%):
A tawny coloured ale brewed with five hops. (Brewery notes)
Santa's Yuletide Log (4.7%): A dark brown Christmas beer with a distinctive aroma and nutty taste that tapers off to a chocolate finish. (Brewery notes)
Shirty's Festival Special (4.5%): A full-bodied, ruby coloured ale, brewed for the 3rd Delapre Abbey Beer Festival. (Brewery notes)
SWALK (4%): A mid-brown beer generously hopped with Northdown, Challenger and Styrian Goldings varieties, brewed for St Valentine's Day. (Brewery notes)
Wobbly Santa (4.8%): A dark and delicious Christmas pudding of a festive beer. (Brewery notes)
Wot's the Craic (3.9%): A mid-golden ale hopped with Challenger and Fuggles varieties. (Brewery notes)

Welsh Black (4%): Very dark in colour with a caramel aroma and sweet, malty taste.

GREEN TYE

Hertfordshire Hedgehog (4%): A traditional chestnut bitter with malt flavours turning to a hoppy, bitter finish.


GREENE KING

Abbot Ale (5%): A good example of an East Coast best bitter, with fruitiness and malty richness balanced by good hop intensity — from Challenger and Fuggles varieties — leading to a bitter-sweet finish.
Abbot Ale Reserve (6.5%): A strong special version of Abbot Ale, full-bodied, smooth and mature, sweet and malty with fruit cake and toffeeish flavours. Hops are Challenger, First Gold and Fuggles.
Greene King IPA (3.6%): An award-winning session beer with a fresh, hoppy aroma and taste — from Challenger and First Gold varieties — ending in a clean, bitter finish.
Hen's Tooth (6.5%)
Morland Original Bitter (4%): A standard bitter with malt and some good bite from some hop. There is a satisfying bitter finish. (DN: 28-04-10)
Old Speckled Hen (4.5%)
Royal London (4.3%): A rich, fruity brew with crystal malt and Challenger and Goldings hops available exclusively in selected Greene King pubs in the capital. (brewery notes: 22-08-09)
Ruddles Best Bitter (3.7%), Ruddles County (4.3%), Strong Suffolk Vintage Ale (6%), XX Mild (3%)

4SEASONAL BEERS
Abbot Reserve (6.5%), Abstinence Ale (3.6%, January 2009), Christmas 2008), Ale Fresco (4.3%, May and June 2008)
Bonkers Conkers (4.1%, September 2008): A reddish brown beer with a butty, spicy flavour that develops fruit then leads to a crisp bitter finish. (30-11-08)
Hare Raiser (4.1%, March): A freshly hopped ale with superbly fruity undertones and crisp bitter finish. (brewery notes: February 2010)
LBW (4.3%, smmer 2009), Morland Tanners Jack (4.4%, April and May 2008)
Old Bob (5.1%, February 2010): A premium ale with a blend of hops, holding delicious spicy and fruit flavours that lead into a dried fruit and biscuit malt finish. (brewery notes: February 2010)
Ridleys Witchfinder (4.3%, October 2008), Rocking Rudolph (4.5%, Christmas 2008)
Sundance (4.1%, July and August): A golden, easy drinking summer beer. Very refreshing. (DN: 25-08-10)

4SPECIALS
Boss Hogg Bitter (4.1%): A golden ale with a rich flavour, brewed for the autumn 2009 JD Wetherspoon festival. Malty fruit is followed by refreshing zest with underlying spiciness. Hops used are Cascade, Challenger, First Gold and Fuggles.
Flanker's Tackle (4.3%): A Six Nations 2010 special, available February and March. A golden, late-haopped brew with a fruity nose and good depth of flavour. Hops used are Bramlings Cross, Challenger, Fuggles and Goldings. (25-03-10)
Gosnold's Glory (4.5%): A dark, rich brew, with fruit and toffee flavours, named after Bartholomew Gosnold, an English lawyer, explorer and privateer of the 16th century. Hops used are Challenger and Goldings.
